Characteristics of epoxy resin

Epoxy resins have secondary hydroxyl groups and epoxy groups, which can react with isocyanates. Epoxy resin as a polyol is directly added to the hydroxyl-containing component of the polyurethane adhesive. With this method, only the hydroxyl group participates in the reaction, but the epoxy group fails to react.

With acidic resin and a carboxyl group, the epoxy is opened and then reacted with the isocyanate in the polyurethane adhesive. You can also dissolve the epoxy resin in ethyl acetate, add phosphoric acid to warm the reaction, and add the adduct to the polyurethane adhesive; the initial viscosity of the adhesive; heat resistance and hydrolytic stability can also be improved. Or the amine reacts to form a polyol, and the presence of tertiary nitrogen atoms in the adduct can accelerate the NCO reaction.

The use of epoxy resin as a polyhydroxy component combines the advantages of polyurethane and epoxy resin and has good bonding strength and chemical resistance. The epoxy resin used in the manufacture of polyurethane adhesives generally adopts EP-12 and EP-13, EP-16, and EP-20 and other varieties.

Modification method
1. Choose curing agent
2. Add reactive thinner
3. Add filler
4. Add special thermosetting or thermoplastic resin
5. The modified epoxy resin itself
